Coppertop Birdhouses & Birdfeeders by Hatteras House are individually handcrafted, built to last and have much attention given to detail. Their design and construction techniques are inspired by those found along the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Looking for something unique for yourself or a special person? How about a coppertop handcrafted butterfly house. A cozy little home for the butterflies that would look great in the yard, garden or flowerbed. The house is specifically designed for butterflies with the construction of narrow openings and the use of bright colors, or the more conservative and classic white house. The home can be mounted on a pole or can be attached to a fence or other flat surface. It makes a beautiful accent to any yard or garden. It measures 19" tall by 4" wide and is made from solid wood with a decorative copper roof and copper trim. This house comes with a 15" post included in the price and is easy to setup. Houses are hinged in the back for easy access for cleaning or placing food to attract plenty of beautiful butterflies.

Butterflies are from the group of insects called Lepidoptera. They fly mostly in the day time floating from flower to flower eating the nectar the flowers provide as food for the butterfly. The body parts of a butterfly include: a head, the thorax, the abdomen, two antennae, and six legs. They have four wings: a forewing and a hindwing on the right and left side of the body. The wings are covered in scales that give the butterfly there beautiful color variations. The butterfly has two eyes and a coiled proboscis for drinking liquids such as flower nectar. Medium to large butterflies can be safely handled and released by persons who know how to do it. Any butterfly can be fatally damaged by being handled improperly. For example, the vein on the front wing if broken will cause the butterfly to be flightless evermore.
