We receive so many emails asking us where does a Hatteras House come from we thought we would show you.

 Each house or feeder is original and completely handcrafted by us, here at Evans Farm. 

The basic steps are shown below and as you can see they are "built to last".

 

Premium Grade lumber STEP 1: We start with  #1 premium grade lumber.
Correct Angles cut STEP 2: Boards are cut to correct angles.
Correct lengths cut

 

STEP 3: Boards are cut to correct lengths.

 

Center holes cut STEP 4: Center holes are cut on each panel.
Center panels cut STEP 5: Panels are cut out for bird access.
Sanded smooth STEP 6: Cut edges are sanded smooth.
Nailed and glued STEP 7: Side panels are nailed, glued and assembled together.
Aluminum guards used STEP 8: Aluminum corner guards are cut.
Aluminum guards applied STEP 9: Corner guards are added for dimension and to protect corners from cracking.
Nailed and Glued! STEP 10: Feeder is attached to base.
Base trimmed STEP 11: Base is trimmed to correct width.
Make sure it's level. STEP 12: Mounting  brackets are cut, nailed, glued and attached to base.
wood rafters STEP 13: Rafters are cut and attached, ready for plywood.
Plywood nailed to rafters STEP 14: Plywood is attached to the rafters just like a real house.
Copper STEP 15: Copper or shingles are cut to cover plywood top.
Copper on roof STEP 16: Appropriate cover is applied to the plywood and joints covered.
nailed and glued STEP 17: Cedar trim is cut and nailed.
Hand Turned Finials STEP 18: Finials are hand turned from dried hardwoods.
Hatteras House Logo STEP 19: Hatteras House logo is hand stamped.
Hatteras House Logo STEP 20: Hatteras House logo is added to each house or feeder. Yes, we are proud of them.
finial attached STEP 21: Hand turned finials are painted and attached.
Ready to go! STEP 22: Three coats of paint, two coats of weatherproofing sealant and it's ready to package.
